This is the all NEW Seat Post.

Instead of having a monthly newsletter we will be updating this page, just like we would have done with the monthly newsletter but more often.  We hope you like the new changes.  If you would like to submit an article or if you have questions or comments email us at bobcindy@stjoelive.com.

Mileage Totals, we will be once again publishing mileage totals for club members who submit their monthly and ytd totals.  Submit mileage to bobcindy@stjoelive.com.

Wanted - Articles for the all NEW Seat Post.

Rhonda Hale talked about the MS Ride and the come back of the Joe Town Jammers.  The Joe Town Jammers is our group that goes to the MS Ride each year.  For years the Joe Town Jammers were one of the largest groups at the KC MS Ride.  The MS Ride has a $30 registration fee and you have to earn $200 in donations.

For more information about the MS Mid America Chapter, MS Bike Ride, MS Walk, etc visit them on Facebook.

Some one asked, where does all the money go from dues?  It goes to putting on our club rides, club expenses and what ever monies we have left over at the end of the year goes to buying bicycle for kids at Christmas.

Hi. My name is Summer  and I am sure we have ran into each other at least once at the bike shop or on a ride somewhere in the past.  I started a group on Facebook to try and get female cyclists together for group rides, etc.  I for one get tired of riding with the guys all of the time and would like to make more female friends.

Chicks Who Cycle in St. Joseph, MO

We are having our first ever Century Ride here in Bethany MO on Aug 28th at 7 a.m.  We will have 4 SAGS provided and 3 self sags in small towns.  It is a very challenging (hilly) course mostly in Harrison County.

Anyone interested can contact me at sillesivart26@yahoo.com.

Thanks I, hope to see some of your riders.

2010 PARKWAY BLAST RECAP

Total Number of Participants: 35, including 6 volunteers

Weather:  Started out nice, but got hot and humid in the afternoon, but not as hot as last year.

The volunteers deserve an extra thank-you for all their hard work.  Jack Smith, Deb Pankau, Bob & Cindy Neidinger and all the early riders for helping me set up the starting/finish line.  Grand Slam Ice Cream for running the rest stop at Hyde Park.  Jack Smith for being the Parkway and Lake Contrary SAG.  Cindy & Bob Neidinger for marking the route, helping with registration and route V/116 rest stop/SAG with Lisa Nicholes.  Shawn Force of Forces of Nature Bike Store provided mechanical support.  Lucille Reynolds for baking cookies.

The long route was almost closed this year due to a lack of volunteers.  If Grand Slam Ice Cream had not sponsored the rest stop at Hyde Park we wouldn’t of had enough volunteers to support the long route.  The morning started out nice then got hot and humid towards afternoon.  The dogs on the back side of Lake Contrary are back with a vengeance.  We had several riders threatened by the dogs but no one was bitten.  They even went after the SAG vehicle.

Grand Slam Ice Cream deserves a great big thank you for putting on an assume rest stop.  I will try to get them back next year.

Question:  Should the loop around Lake Contrary be dropped from the ride, due to the dogs?  The back side of the lake is outside of the city limits and the county does not have animal control.

I need volunteers for the Night Ride & Poker Run on October 23.  So, if you don’t think you will be riding in these events or if your significant other would like to be included, please let me know as soon as possible before the next event.  Without volunteers there would be no events.  For the Night Ride & Poker Run, I need 6 route marshals, 1 support driver, 1 dealer, help with event set up and tear down.  Volunteers get price breaks on shirts and all the homemade cookies they can eat.

Prize donations wanted for the Night Ride & Poker Run on October 23.  Do not have to be cycling themed, if you have any question call me at 816-261-2383.

Best Parkway Blast Rest Stop!

Good Looking Riders, I am reworking the Ride Calendar for the rest of the season.  We will have a breakfast ride once a month on a Saturday and we will try and have destinations for Mon and Saturday Rides.  If you have a ride you would like on the Calendar, let me know <bobcindy@stjoelive.com>
